Say Hello to Our New Guroo Graduates!

Written by Bridget Walker | Jun 19, 2023 10:46:17 PM

Over the past few years, Guroo has had a number of graduates come through the company to extend their skills, learn what learning design truly is, and become part of the Guroo community. At the start of the month (05/06/2023), we welcomed two awesome grads to our team, Rachel Worsley and Kate Jung.

We spoke to each of our new grads to find out more about them and how they are bringing their unique perspectives and skills to the world of learning design.

What attracted you to the Guroo Producer Program?

I helped to design educational and workplace resources for neurodivergent individuals, which got me interested in creating learning content. So, I decided to look for a structured place where I can focus on learning design, and Guroo stood out to me.

How has learning had a positive impact on your life?

For me, I have always had a curiosity in learning a lot of different things. I’ve studied law, had careers in medical reporting, and worked in marketing and communications, as well as owning my own business, and now I have the opportunity to become a learning designer, where I ultimately get to learn every day. And I only have these opportunities because of learning, I like to think of myself as a life-long learner in this way.

What is your special skill, and how does it shape what you do?

My special skill is my ability to break jargon down into plain English so that more people can access and learn the material.

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

Just the excitement about learning something new, every day is a new learning opportunity. And the more you learn, the more you get excited to get out of bed.

Are there any specific experiences or achievements from your academic or personal life that you are particularly proud of?

Starting my own business has definitely been an achievement I am particularly proud of. I saw a problem of a lack of resources for neurodivergent people in the workplace and was able to build a successful and extremely helpful business off of this. I get messages from people all around the world thanking me for the resources I have been able to provide. I feel so grateful to be in a position where I can help people and give them access to knowledge they otherwise wouldn’t have access to.

Welcome to Kate Jung

What attracted you to the Guroo Producer Program?

I knew I wanted to pursue learning design in an environment where I get to work with real clients and create content that is going to be used by real people. Guroo really stood out as somewhere where I would have the flexibility to work with a whole range of people from all differing industries.

How has learning had a positive impact on your life?

I’ve always been someone that is interested in learning new things. Whether that be from conversations, formal learning, or online, it gives me energy and spices things up. Learning new hobbies has kept me from getting stuck in a mundane routine as I work on bettering my skills and finding new communities.

What is your special skill, and how does it shape what you do?

I have an eye for detail and love planning things out, which I think comes in handy when designing learning.

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

I have a morning routine. Having that me time in the morning away from the noise and busyness sets me up for the day. And even if I’ve had a bad day the day before, it acts like a way to reset before I start my new day.

Are there any specific experiences or achievements from your academic or personal life that you are particularly proud of?

Getting into Guroo and starting a career in something I'm interested in, taking the plunge making the transition into something new.
